East Course
The Faldo designed East Course was the first course to open at Vattanac Golf Resort on the 17th of May, 2019. Recently Awarded “Best Golf Course in Cambodia 2024” by the World Golf Awards. The “East” is a strategic golf course that utilizes dramatic water features, creative bunkering and various forms of native fauna to challenge golfers of all levels. Over and above the highly enjoyable golf experience, the “East” pays homage to the marvels of Khmer architecture and the country’s rich history, with magnificent scale replicas of the world-renowned Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple and Preah Vihear Temple.

Hole by hole info:

HOLE 1 PAR 5
Pro’s Tip:
Setting the tone for the course, our opener offers multiple strategies from different tees to match your skill level. The more obvious plan would be driver to the left of the first bunker, but the fairway gathers balls towards the hazard and a short approach to a right-hand pin here is tricky. More prudently, play shorter from the tee, left towards the 18th fairway, leaving a direct although longer approach to the green, especially when the pin is at the back.
Designer’s Notes:
This hole is designed to be a friendly opening hole for everyday play that can also be played as a drivable par 4 for professional events from the middle tees. The bunker on the right was extended during construction to tighten the landing area for the longer drive.

HOLE 2 PAR 4
Pro’s Tip:
A long Par 4 that requires a drive up the left side of the fairway. Take note of the pin location with a green length of 40 yard’s the second shot can play up to 4 clubs longer from front to back.

HOLE 3 PAR 4
Pro’s Tip:
A tough uphill par 4. Be careful of the water on the right which cannot be seen from the tee box. The second shot plays 1 club longer up the hill to the green.

HOLE 5 PAR 4
Pro’s Tip:
Short par 4, this is a good chance to make a birdie. A solid drive will carry the middle bunker. Leaving a short iron into the green.

HOLE 6 PAR 4
Pro’s Tip:
A potential card wrecker, avoid the water on the left. There is plenty of room on the right side over the bunker. Making a bogey here isn’t a bad score.

HOLE 7 PAR 4
Pro’s Tip:
A long dog leg right. Long hitters can cut the corner by hitting over the edge of the bunker on the right. Making the approach shot play much shorter.
A Tea House awaits behind the green for a well-deserved rest stop.

Most of the trouble is short. The green slopes from front to back on the left side and from back to front on the right. Making for many interesting pin positions.

HOLE 13 PAR 5
Pro’s Tip:
A great risk and reward hole. A Sensible play would be to drive down the left to avoid the bunkers. But, the tighter you keep the drive down the right the bigger the kick forward it will get.
Lay up deep right near the green or short left avoiding all the bunkers.

The Longest par 3 on East Course and it plays uphill. All the trouble is on the left. A simple up and down can be made from stray shots that finish right.

HOLE 18 PAR 5
Pro’s Tip:
Long sweeping dog leg left. A nice wide fairway but be careful any shot turning left will be helped by the slope directing it into the water. The green sits elevated with a false front. Choose enough club to get into the heart of the green.
